THE LEGENG OF SOTHYS

Have you ever noticed the symbol of SOTHYS. Did you know the Egyptian-inspired figure has an intriguing story of her own? To ancient Egyptians, Sothys represented the goddess of the sky, the stars, of prosperity and fertility, even guiding the pharaohs into the afterlife. Her unparalleled beauty led them to name the most beautiful and luminous star in the heavens after her, capturing the attention of early Egyptians who worshiped her celestial and eternal beauty. I don’t know of any Hollywood lovelies who can claim that distinction today..

The Story

According to experts, “The Greeks called it Sothis, and in Latin it was called Sirius. Throughout all periods of recorded Egyptian history, this beautifully brilliant star, which we call Sothis (meaning, “Pure of Thrones”), was and still is the Star of Isis, the brightest star in the night sky. To locate Sothis (or Sirius), look for Orion’s belt, and then mentally draw a straight line down from that system and you will see Sothis shining brightly.”

The legend of Sothys follows the age-old tale of bewitching good looks causing the fall of empires (or close). It is said that the god of agriculture, Saturn, fell deeply in love with Sothys, as he gazed up at the night sky. This inevitably inspired the wrath and vengeance of Venus –  “Heav’n has no rage, like love to hatred turn’d/Nor hell a fury, like a woman scorn’d.”

As described in the SOTHYS literature, “Venus, Saturn’s lover, filled with fires of jealousy and out of vengeance destroyed the delicate and innocent star. For many centuries, the Universe was deprived of the luminous star. The saddened Saturn, torn with grief, filled the lands with his tears of sorrow for many days. Legend says that it then rained for 40 days and 40 nights.” ( Hmmm..seems to be the punishment of choice for those who err.)

And so, in response to Saturn’s beloved loss, the brilliant Sothys returned as a new star reigning over the Universe. Her gentle rays sweep over the lands and heavens radiating her beauty and magnetism to all women and men over the world .. Forever..

And so, when you apply your nightly SOTHYS serum or daily moisturizer, remember the legend of the graceful golden figure, as it evokes eternal beauty and radiance.

“Faithful to its mythical muse, the Sothys group passionately dedicates itself to beauty.” And at A French Touch, we remind you how beauty emanates from within- like resplendent starlight – keep glowing, mesdames!
